Light for Refugees Foundation

90% of refugees living in settlements have no access to energy. Thus, women and girl refugees are often harassed while walking at night and children cannot effectively study after sunset. Help change this by donating to provide solar lights to refugees.

Why Providing Light to Refugees Matters:

    1. Safety of Women and Girls: Sexual harassment and gender-based-violence are common in refugee camps when it is dark. The presence of a light source can decrease the incidents of gender-based-violence by nearly 5 times!

    2. Education: Refugee children cannot effectively study after sunset without a source of light.

    3. Psychological Healing: Refugee children are often traumatized from the inhumane conditions in their home countries that they faced. Therefore, many kids do not like to stay in the dark and like to have a source of light to stay calm. Also, solar lights can allow refugees to engage in sports and socialize after dark. This can improve the mental health of refugees.

"What can we do as humans without light? I am missing humanity. We escaped certain death in Syria just to face a kind of death slowly here in this camp.”
